Athlon - MTPL insurance (mandatory)

MTPL insurance covers personal and material damage caused by road accidents. It guarantees benefits for third parties injured as a result of an accident or collision. The insurer's maximum liability for a single insured event is €1,050,000 for property damage and €5,210,000 for personal injury. The insurance contract is concluded for a period of 12 months and automatically extended. The insurance is valid on the territory of Polish and countries that have signed the Multilateral Agreement - almost all of Europe.

Athlon – casco Insurance

The scope of the casco insurance covers damage occurring during the insurance period concerning the vehicle, as well as its equipment, wrapping and keys. In the case of vehicle insurance, the sum insured is the net value of the vehicle as determined on the date of commencement of the insurance coverage. Insurance cover under casco Athlon Insurance is provided on the territory of the Republic of Poland and within the geographical borders of Europe, excluding such countries as Ukraine, Moldova, Russia and Belarus. An insurance contract can be concluded for a period of 1 to 5 years.

Athlon – Green Card Insurance

If you travel to Albania, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Moldova, Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine, you must have your Green Card with you. It is issued at no additional cost. The scope of Green Card insurance is the same as third-party insurance. The insurance cover covers material and personal damage suffered as a result of an accident or collision. The Green Card Certificate is issued for a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 12 months, but it cannot be longer than the term of your third-party liability policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible not to have third-party insurance?

The Act on Compulsory Insurance informs about the necessity to purchase a third-party liability insurance policy by every owner of a motor vehicle, and failure to do so will be associated with high penalties. In the event of an inspection, however, the regulations do not impose an obligation to carry insurance documents with you, because a police officer can verify whether the driver has third-party liability insurance by contacting the Insurance Guarantee Fund.

Why is it worth opting for comprehensive insurance?

Having AutoCasco insurance is a financial security in the event of a collision, theft or damage to the vehicle, which is not so difficult to obtain. We are talking about the forces of nature, bumps, scratches or acts of vandalism to which vehicles are exposed every day. In contrast to third-party insurance, which mainly protects other people in the event of damage caused by the vehicle user, comprehensive insurance protects the insured's own vehicle, which is why the funds go to them and not to third parties.

What are the consequences of not having a valid Green Card?

As the Green Card confirms the validity of the third-party liability insurance policy in some countries, its absence may entail additional costs – the need to purchase border insurance (for example, in 30 days in Moldova it will cost 7 euros, and in Morocco as much as 88 euros). Taking into account that the Green Card is an add-on, the cost of which is already included in the third-party liability insurance premium, requiring only an application, it is worth remembering about it before traveling to countries belonging to the Green Card system.

When does motor accident insurance work?

This insurance covers not only the consequences of an accident that occurred while driving the insured vehicle, but also when it occurred during the repair of the vehicle on the road, when getting out or getting into the vehicle, as well as while staying in it on the occasion of stopping or stopping.

I am driving a car with a driver's license issued in the USA. Does Third Party Liability and Casco insurance work in the event of an accident?

In Poland you can use an American International Driver's License for 183 days. Since the U.S. driver's license does not comply with the 1968 Vienna Convention, after this period, you must obtain the equivalent of the Polish driver's license by passing the theoretical exam. Lack of a Polish driving license after 6 months of staying in Poland means the lack of a valid document confirming the right to drive a vehicle. In the case of Casco, this circumstance excludes the insurer's liability, and in the case of Third Party Liability insurance, this circumstance determines the insurer's right to claim the compensation paid against the perpetrator of the event (Article 43(3) of the Act on Compulsory Insurance).
